Thanks to all those who took part in this novel event. It was a great help in preparing for the relay event that will precede the Canadian Championships. It looks like the relay there will be good fun with all the various clubs from across the country participating and cheering their teammates. We hope to have a large number of OOC teams entered.

As this is a new event format and a new piece of software for the SI, it may be a day or so before the full results are posted.

Thanks to Peter Laurich and helpers for organizing this meet and to Eric Teutsch for working out the relay software.

Lorna Guttormson, COC event coordinator

Here are the results for last Sunday's Relay race.  I made one major error during the race when I allowed one runner to start the second leg before his first-leg runner returned.  It turns out that it is impossible to change the start times of runners.  They're supposed to start either by tagging the previous leg, or at one designated late-start time (which we used for all the 3rd leg runners whose 2nd leg didn't show up in time).  The only way to fix my error was to adjust all the finger-stick times of that one team to pretend they started when the system says they were supposed to start.  Their relative times are correct, but the system says that they started later than they really did.  Now we know what not to do during the Canadian Orienteering Championships in August!

36 runners participated in the relay, which gave us 12 teams with varying handicaps.  We divided the handicaps so that we ended with 2 categories -- for the COCs we might want to improve our handicapping system...

Team Name Handicap Category
TopChicken 4 H1
STD's 4 H1
Jackrabbit 4 H1
Krams 4 H1
Aldana 5 H1
Oldies 5 H1
EatChicken 6 H2
Greeters 6 H2
A-Team 6 H2
Jello 6 H2
Old Hands 7 H2
Hip Hop 9 H2
