Wecome Meet - May 9

What a great event at the Sportsplex on Wednesday night ... good weather... good location ... and good times. Thank you to all the members of the OOC who brought out friends and a special welcome to all the newcomers who came out on their own to see what orienteering is all about. Also, thank you to those who pre-registered so we had lots of maps.

We hope that this was a good introduction, and that we will see you again up in the Gatineau Park or at one of our Tuesday evening Summer Solstice meets in the city. If you have any concerns or questions, please send an e-mail to meets@ottawaoc.ca

The results ....

• 17 newcomer groups participated (a total of 47 people)
• 22 members took the Individual Runners Challenge
• 16 newcomers also braved the woods on their own in the Individual Runners Challenge

....... a credit to the Beginner's Clinic on Tuesday (thank you Cherie)...

6 people were able to pick up all 28 controls (yes it can be done!) in the time allotted

• all 28 controls: 6
• 25 - 27 controls: 3
• 20 - 24 controls: 8
• 15 - 19 controls: 12
• 10 - 14 controls: 14
• under 10 controls: 9

Congratulations ... you all did a fine job of braving the bugs and finding your way back home :)
