Results for the Hog's Back Spring Sprints (Apr 26th, 2009)
Race Director's Notes
Well, it worked! . . . I think! We weren’t sure until we were actually doing it how well a series of up to three sprint races would work, with timing the courses, downloading SI’s between maps, timing rest intervals of 15 minutes and trying to explain to everyone what we were actually doing!
Anyway, the rain held off, the temperature stayed cool, we had 60 inidividuals and groups start the races, and a great time was had by all - well at least we enjoyed it from the finish line. By having people doing multiple sprints with a 15 minute rest in between, it made for a great spectator event and some good social time, once people had caught their breath.
Many thanks to Lorna for being our “Greeter”, to my Teutsch clan assistants - Eric was controller, SI guy, and husband all at once. And SI was NOT an easy task for this one! Jeff helped develop the multi-sprint interval training idea, made sure I “got” the way sprint courses are supposed to be set up, and then helped choose the appropriate control locations, Alex ran a smooth start line, right through the busiest of it all, and Laura ran an efficient registration desk, as well as running the Fast and Furious race and even beating her Aunt Pat!
Hope everyone enjoyed it! I think it's worth trying again, with perhaps just a bit of tweaking.
Time-keeper's Notes
What a race! It kept me hopping. But we didn't lose any runners, all "Dibblers" were returned, and we haven't lost any finish times (except for one runner who was in a rush and cleared and checked his "Dibbler" without first downloading at the computer).
