I. BY-LAWS The colors
of the OOC are red, white and green. The OOC symbol is a red and white
orienteering symbol with an alternately colored “0” and a green pine tree
within the “0”. This symbol has the
approval of the COF Membership fees – Full Membership: $35 for the first adult, $20 per additional adult family member, $10 per additional junior* family member, $5 per additional limited family member, $20 for an individual junior* membership Limited Membership: $15 for the first adult, $5 per additional limited family member, $10 for an individual junior* membership, *Juniors are those not yet 21 as of December 31 of the current year. Map copyright charges - $1.00 per map for non-profit organizations, such as schools and scouts, who are running meets that promote the sport. $2.00 per map if the meet raises money for the organization itself and for government and commercial organizations. Any costs incurred by OOC for copying maps for them will also be passed on. II. PROCEDURES and POLICIESMappingMapping committee should be encouraged to put mapping to tender and that club members be eligible to bid. Anyone scouting an area for potential mapping should submit a report of their findings to the mapping coordinator to avoid duplication of effort. To control usage of our maps and payment of copyright fees, maps will no longer be sold through other outlets such as world of Maps. Cost structure for B-meets – including summer solstice meets The following fee schedule was agreed to by the majority.
Children 10 or under in a group, accompanied by an adult, would be free. Family members must be living at the same address to qualify for the maximum. $2 per map for extra maps $1 for purchase of whistle $10 deposit +$1 rental for compass Members applies to all COF/IOF and recreational members Minutes – full minutes be posted through a link but also highlights should be extracted onto a separate page. Any fund raising done through meets should be done for the COF for the national team rather than support of individuals Membership package is to be sent to all new members including a short history of the club, club officers and contacts, full schedule and a membership card. Capital O will be sent to all previous year members up to the August issue. At that time, those who have not renewed will be informed this will be their last issue. B-Meets Meet directors should endeavour to retain scale, legend, contour intervals and north arrows on maps. In addition the B-Box should have some basic legends available. All meet directors and controllers must have at least level 1. At least one of the two must be a club member and both must be members of COF or IOF.’ . Each meet should have a qualified controller . It is the responsibility of the controller to look at the courses prior to the meet and to make any suggestion that he/she may have to the director/course planner. The controller will verify locations for controls and will check as many controls as possible, especially difficult controls or ones the director would like to have checked. The controller will be present throughout the meet and will assist in any way needed. On the day of the meet, the meet director should be entirely free. He/she should have 2 helpers for registration and one for timing. Maps will be pre-printed for all events Standard B meets should all have 4 courses – novice, intermediate, short advanced and long advanced. Mileage given
to club members who do mapping some distance from the city will be reimbursed
at the rate of $.25 per kilometre. SportIdent: a $25 charge will apply to lost SI cards and this fact will appear on the OOC website. Dogs: Participants in club meets will be discouraged from bringing their dog(s) with them on course. An appropriate notice should appear on the website. |
