Trailhead Summer Solstice Series

The Trailhead Summer Solstice Series consists of five Score-O events held Tuesday evenings in Ottawa in May and June during Gatineau Park's black fly season.

We are again using the handicap system in order to provide all with a good chance to win some of the great prizes from Trailhead. The prizes will be awarded following the final meet at Lac Beauchamp on June 29. Bring something to sit on and relax following the meet.

Our thanks to Trailhead for their continuing support of this series.

The handicap is based on age, gender and experience – see handicap scoring. You will be given credit for the number of controls equal to your handicap the minute you start. For example, if there are 25 controls on a particular evening and your handicap is 5, you will only have to get 20 in order to have them “all” . If there is still time before the 60 minute time limit you can run back to the finish to get the bonus points for finishing early. If you decide to instead get a 21st control that is OK of course, but you will not get credit for it.

You can let us know your handicap in one of 2 ways. Complete the online form or fill out a paper form such as this at the first meet you attend. At each meet you should make note of the total number of controls (likely some where between 20 and 28) and calculate the number of controls you will need in order to get them ´all´ (total controls minus your handicap) and plan your route accordingly. Don't forget to bring a watch.

Scoring for the series is best 4 out of 5 events.

Scoring for each meet will be as follows:

Following the final meet, June 29, we invite you to gather at the finish at Lac Beauchamp for presentation of awards sponsored by Trailhead while munching on pizzas. To be sure we have enough pizzas please put in your order here.
