This weekly running training session on Wednesday nights is open to all members. The intent is to improve the running speed and fitness of our elite runners and juniors, but the session is open for everyone who is interested in a running work-out.
Although the intent is pure running training such as intervals, hill sprints, running technique, etc. there are often simple technique exercises incorporated in the workouts. Many of the sessions are done with a map in hand, or some exercise forcing you to think orienteering while running. The training is led by our coach extraordinaire, Francis Kawam who is a certified track running coach and is excellent at setting goals and exercises for all levels.
These sessions are at 6pm at Frank Ryan Park, corner of Dundee Ave and Henley Street just south of the Carling/Richmond Road intersection. The group starts from here and often leaves to other venues by 6:15.
Everyone is welcome! Please make every effort to arrive on time.
If you would like to be added to the group mailing list please contact
These events provide an opportunity to practice basic and advanced techniques and build your confidence. If you are comfortable on the intermediate courses, this map and compass training on orienteering specific skills is for you. Each evening will focus on a particular skill and will have execises for the long advanced runner that can be scaled down to suit the individual. They are informal evenings with no timing, often only ribbons put out, and each individual can tackle as much of the course as he or she chooses.

When : Training sessions Thursday nights at 6:00pm-8:00pm from April 4 - June 13. 2013, 8 weeks. Please make every effort to arrive on time.
Cost : $30.00 for registration to cover map printing - or $5 per session. Please print and fill the registration and waiver and bring it with registration fee to the first session.
Goal : Improve the orienteering skills of club members at all levels.
What to bring : A plastic map bag from an earlier meet as well as all orienteering gear including SI dibble if you have one. SI will not likely be used but may be so be prepared.
