O-Talk & Course Discourse
If there’s one thing about orienteering that lots of us are missing right now, it’s being together. Despite spending most of their time in the woods by themselves, orienteers love to socialize with each other; whether it’s comparing their routes that they took to control #5, talking about their encounter with a deer on the course, or showing off the tick they just pulled off of their arm. We want to be able to bring the social aspect of orienteering back to our club. So, we’re excited to announce the start of our O-Talk and Course Discourse series!
For the next 8 weeks, we will be hosting a weekly webinar where we’ll casually talk about either a MapRun course (Course Discourse) or some other orienteering related topic (O-Talk). There will be a $32.00 fee (HST included) to participate in the 8-week series, but our first session this coming Sunday will be free! If you enjoy it and want to register for the 7 other sessions, just eTransfer the fee to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
O-Talk: The Best Race of Your Life
The theme for our first O-Talk is “The Best Race of Your Life”. Whether you won first place, or you had a perfect run, or even if you just really enjoyed the terrain, this is an opportunity for us to share those stories with each other! We want to keep things very casual, so don’t feel like you need to prepare any kind of long, detailed speech. Just tell us about what made that run so great. And if you want to join the meeting just to listen without sharing, that’s fine as well; our storytellers need an audience!
If you want to share a story and have a photo or map to show us, just reply to this email with the file(s) attached so that it can be included in the presentation.
When: Sunday, 9 May, 7:00-8:00 PM
Link: To be sent on Sunday.
Course Discourse: March Highlands
We’re going to kick off our Course Discourse series by looking at March Highlands! We’ll talk about what went well and what could’ve gone better. Just like we would at an in-person orienteering meet! The presenter will also have access to RouteGadget.com where they can show and compare everyone’s routes. If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to get out to March Highlands and run the course before our talk!
When: Sunday, 16 May, 7:00-8:00 PM
Link: To be given upon registration.
