Racing Programs Overview
Orienteering Ottawa is currently working on developing our racing programs. Currently we are offering a “Train to Train” program for teenagers that show an interest in competing in orienteering and demonstrate a willingness to train seriously for it.
We also provide coaching support to club athletes in the National High Performance Program.
As we develop our programs and demand increases we will look to add more programs to better support our competitive athletes.
Train to Train Program
Our Train to Train program is our program for those in the Train to Train stages of Orienteering Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Model (the Train to Train stages loosely correspond to teenagers).
The program includes multiple days per week of group training and racing as well as training plan support and, where it fits into the schedule, coaching support at out of town competitions.
Young athletes whot have enjoyed the Learn to Train program and are interested in training multiple times a week and competing in orienteering should consider registering for the Train to Train program.
National High Performance Program
The National High Performance Program is Orienteering Canada’s program for athletes competing or aiming to compete on national teams at the junior (under 20) and senior levels at the Junior World Championships, World University Orienteering Championships, World Orienteering Championships, and the World Cup Circuit.
Orienteering Ottawa provides support to club athletes in this program at local events and training sessions and assistance with training plans, goal setting and more.
