General Information
Participation Options
Ottawa O-Fest 2022 will offer Age Class races and Recreational courses. Choose which you prefer when you register online for the event.
Age Class Races
Ottawa O-Fest 2022 has male and female age classes from 10-and-under to 90-and-over. The age class races will follow our popular Chase format. For the Middle event on Saturday everyone will have a pre-assigned start time. For the chase start on Sunday, participants will be given a start time relative to how far they finished behind the Saturday winner in their age class. For instance, if the winner's time in your class was 35:40 and your time was 37:50, (2:10 behind the winner), then you will start 2:10 behind the Saturday's winner on Sunday. This means that the first person to cross the finish line in any given class is the winner for the weekend. Awards will be given based on total time
Recreational Courses
Ottawa O-Fest 2022 offers 4 recreational courses on each of Saturday and Sunday, at a novice and intermediate level. Participants will register online, in advance, in an Open Class. Participants will be allowed to start at any time, from 11:15 to 12:00 on Saturday and from 10:15 to 11:00 on Sunday. Participants will be permitted to go out on course as a group. Note that each participant will have their own timing stick.

Terrain Description
Lac Beauchamp has Canadian shield terrain with many trails, rock features, and marshes. Some areas have flat open bedrock areas, others have large cliffs. The runnability is mostly good.
Mapper's Notes
For the first time the Lac Beauchamp map will feature 2.5 metre contours from Lidar data. At this interval even the most intricate tops of hills and side hill details are captured. The forested areas are generally rocky and the most treacherous side hills have been marked with the stony ground symbol. In extreme cases, particularly along escarpments with large cliffs, the ground is broken into massive boulders. These areas have been marked with the boulder field symbol and are very slow to traverse.
The East side of the map features a network of open flats. Within the clearings are large patches of open rock. There is a network of large trials throughout this area that connects with many of the clearings. Many of these trails fade into the open rock as shown by the picture and map snippet below.
Accommodation
Camping
Wesley Clover Campground in Ottawa but that is some distance from the site and may involve traffic delays.
There may be other private campgrounds in Outaouais. We have found the following sites but know nothing more about them.
Keep in mind - if you find something east of Ottawa, there is a ferry across the Ottawa River from Cumberland to Masson giving a quicker route.
